Biosecurity Tournament Hidden Period Over

  • The hidden period has ended for the ongoing Biosecurity Tournament and community predictions are now visible.     Part 4 of the Biosecurity Tournament is now live. With this, the entirety of Round 1 of the tournament is now open.

    Tournament Announcement

    The Metaculus community has in recent years been at the forefront of forecasting biological risks — including COVID-19 and, most recently, monkeypox. These are both tragic reminders of the need for humanity to transform its level of preparedness against biological threats — most imperatively against global catastrophic biological risks, but also against a whole host of other biological risks that are capable of causing global devastation.

    The Biosecurity Tournament, developed in partnership with Guarding Against Pandemics and the Institute for Progress, is a space for thoughtful forecasts and informative discussions meant to help researchers in the biosecurity space and policymakers.

    New questions will open for forecasting each Thursday of this month. Some of the first questions to launch are:
