This quarter saw a number of significant events including the large number of [executive orders](https://www.metaculus.com/questions/34836/number-of-eos-signed-by-trump-in-february-and-march-2025/) issued by president-elect Donald Trump, the [breaking down](https://www.metaculus.com/questions/31849/hostages-released-by-hamas-between-jan-26-and-apr-5-2025/) of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, a [significant increase in flights](https://www.metaculus.com/questions/31427/damascus-international-airport-departures-in-february-2025/) out of Damascus International Airport, and the [California fires](https://www.metaculus.com/questions/31426/large-non-contained-california-fires-on-feb-15-2025/).

## The Quarterly Cup is being rebranded

In early May, the new version of the Quarterly Cup will be launched, called the Metaculus Cup. This will be largely similar to the Quarterly Cup, but will feature a few key differences based on user feedback: it will last for four instead of three months, it will include more questions that close early (as the latest Quarterly Cup did), and it will feature monetary prizes both for accurate forecasts and insightful comments!
