Scores are integral to forecasting. They keep us calibrated and motivate us to spend that extra half hour of research to eke out that extra percentage point of accuracy. I remember how daunting it was to understand my scores when I first started forecasting.

So today we’re improving the scores section on question pages. In addition to scores, we’re now showing extra metrics to help you assess your performance. We chose ‘number of updates’ and ‘coverage’ because they’re good metrics for novice forecasters to target, while remaining interesting to seasoned Metaculites.

We’re also putting scores on a visual scale to make them easier to quickly parse and to provide a visual cue for what 0 represents.
