The identity of the author of the anonymous NYT op-ed published on Sept. 5, 2018, criticizing the Trump administration, is still unknown. Despite much speculation, all efforts at figuring out who wrote it have not been successful in 2018. The question is:
Will the identity of the author be revealed in 2019?
Resolution is positive if a reliable media report indicates with very high probability the author of the editorial, which can be based either on journalistic research, confession of the author, administrative action (such as firing an individual due to the authoring of the editorial), or another action identifying the author with high degree of certainty. Conjectures and publishing circumstantial evidence which could be pointing to possible authorship but not definitely resolving the question do not qualify as resolution.
